Flies are a part of our world
Aug 06, 2009
How many of you can honestly tell me that every morning you get up and habitually tell yourself, “I am so happy I am alive! I am breathing! I’m blessed to have another chance today!” with such devotion?
Because I can’t tell you I do that every morning. What I can tell you is that once in a while, I’ll suddenly be overcome with a wave of gratitude to be here in this vast universe. Sure, I’ve experienced close ones die on me. I’ve experienced humongous betrayal. I’ve experienced a major heart break. Yet, I can still stop myself and say, “Hey! I’m still here! And life is short!”
However, I realize that the thought comes too sporadically. It is now my mission to at least try to embrace the beginning of each day with the knowledge that I was granted a new day to live and to live in the very….moment. Especially since I live in the hurried, stressful DC area, where I want to flip my middle finger at every horrible driver.
Please watch this video, from beginning to end. What a marvelous whack in the head to wake us all up!
You see? The flies were so frickin’ annoying. He tried everything he could to get the flies to stop bugging him. Finally, all he had to do was just live in the moment and embrace the fact the flies were there.
It’s so easy to get caught up in all the drama in our lives. It’s so easy to let little things bother us. It’s so easy to let ourselves sweat over the tiny things. It’s so incredibly easy to write things off because our head says so. It’s so easy to get stressed out, but when it all comes down to it, being in the moment makes everything alright. And completely alright.
