Politics + Bullshit = VOTE ANYWAY!

Oct 05, 2008 | Tags: ,

Many of you that know me assume I have voted in the past, because of how I can easily discuss politics and have a strong voice about certain issues.

The truth: I’ve never voted. Ever. For the very first time in my life, I registered to vote a few months ago. I was excited, but now I’m just exasperated. Now I remember why I didn’t really want to vote before.  More than ever, I see so much bullshit flying around and it’s wasting my time!

I have to research things, just to see if the claim is bogus or honest so I can be sure I’m making the right decision when I go to the voting poll. I’m just extremely shocked at how twisted lies are being thrown around in all corners. I’m shocked at how Democrats are blaming Republicans, and Republicans are blaming Democrats.

What shocks me the most is this video that I’ve embedded here. It’s ten minutes long, so get yourself comfortable, and really watch at how good and compelling this person is blaming Obama and Democrats as if the Republicans all have a halo around their heads. Please! It shocks me how this person can distort so much information and isolate it all into Obama and the Democrats’ fault, when REALLY THE BLAME GOES ALL AROUND.  Mortgage brokers, “mark to market” accounting rule, home buyers themselves, The Federal Reserve, Alan Greenspan, Bush Administration AND the Clinton Administration, and so on! All economies are very complex, there cannot be one person to blame.

Here are some links to really see how crazy this video got out of hand and how you should not fall prey.

Who caused the economic crisis?

Youtube and Lies

Keeping Quiet

(Factcheck.org ROCKS!)

Anyway, all of this bullshit is making me want to just forget about voting and just stick my head back in the sand until this is all over.  But hell no. Let my blood pressure raise, FTW.   I’m voting, damn it.  Truth be told, both candidates aren’t that great. But, you know, we as Americans have a duty to vote for who we think would be better.  We have no choice but to vote for who you think would at least be a bit better than the other for our future. Our future is at stake! The future is for us, Generation X, Y, and the babies that are being born this very second. All of us.

On a side note, please don’t vote for McCain ONLY because he was a prisoner of war. That’s a lousy reason. Sure, we can respect for the hell he went through, but doesn’t mean he can lead better.  Many of us, including myself, have gone through hell and back.

And, please don’t vote for Obama just because he proclaims “Change.” Make sure you know exactly what changes he is talking about.

At the very least, please don’t go to the polls not knowing why you’re voting for that person. Don’t do it because someone told you to. Do your homework. PLEASE. You and I are at stake.

Agree 100% with you about the economy…the blame goes all around.

In addition to what SazzyBamm said, don’t forget to apply the same standard to your your Congress members that are up for election.

  2. Not Voting says:

    RON PAUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obama all the way. I cannot tolerate Conservative anymore. Know this, there are Democrats who are Conservatives as well as the rest of the Republicans. I am just growing really really tired of big debate on old issues such as abortion and several more that’s already been solved and I want to move on to the next level. I feel like we’re stuck in the ’90s or earlier. Type in “Conservative” in Wikipedia and you’ll be shock to find their history.

I want all of us to focus the future: global warming, alternative fuel, strong diplomacy in the middle east, better and fair economy, more rights to every human beings in this country and so on.

McCain’s weak on diplomacy, exceedingly weak and we don’t need a president to bully other countries like Bush did with his psuedo-cowboy attitude. War Never Solves Anything, period. Study World History and you’ll know it.

Palin’s way to backward like the rest of the conservatives and I don’t need this housewife-politician running the country that would make Martha Stewart proud but I do like her approach to big oil companies and Obama should do the same by stamping a BIG NO on $4 billyuns tax cut.

I could go on and on and on. Keep on tabs with them on the internet. I’ve already read the transcripts on Presidential and Veeps debates on CNN. I don’t have a boob tube yet.

    Happy Voting!

wowoww! you’ve never voted. but you know what, I’m glad you admitted that, and why you didn’t vote before. Maybe this will encourage people to stand up and say, you know I’ve never voted before either but I’m not letting my chance to vote get away from me this time around.

I think it helped that i had a father that made sure I went and voted for whatever reason. also this time around, I’ve definitely done my research on the 2 candidates. and I definitely gotta get my ass in gear to read up on the candidates that are running for local office. especially in moco! i read so much about moco government, and I plan on checking them out to make sure i’m voting for the right people! (and i just want the moco government to get the fillmore finished — the music hall in dtss)

so yay for you registering to vote. as much as i would like to put my head in the sand too.. we just can’t do that this time around!

I learned my lesson after the Gore-Bush election. So this year, I’ve also begun participating as a voter and keeping close tabs on the debates and trying to avoid the biased media as much as I can.

All in all, I’d much prefer a Biden-Obama ticket.

    Elephants? Donkeys? Bull! :P

  8. Sazzy says:

@ M-B: Same here, totally learned my lesson because of the Gore-Bush election.

@ Erin: Thanks for reminder, I’ll research moco too this weekend!

@ Pepe: Oh man, ya missed a show! Have you tried youtube’ing the VP debate, check out all the winks Palin made and all the “man, darn, drill baby drill” comments.

If you’re sick of all the poo-flinging going on and you just want the straight facts, check out the Congressional Record: http://thomas.loc.gov/

It shows who said what and who voted for what. No distorted “facts”, just plain old transcripts and actual votes in Congress.
