There is nothing permanent except change.

So says Heraclitus!

Hello, Internet!  How I missed you!  I am going through major life changes.  You could also say I’m still adjusting to the East Coast life, as well.  It’s like someone pushed Alt-Ctrl-Delete on my humanware and reformatted my life.  Surprisingly, I haven’t crashed yet.  I’m trudging along just fine!   However, if someone would throw more memory my way, that would be great. Those brain cells seem to be disappearing. Age?

Check out my new toys:

I think figuring out the new washing machine and dryer is going to be harder than moving itself! How to use these “high efficiency” machines is just way in over my head. I feel like an old lady trying to figure out new technology!  Gotta find the manual online before I shrink every piece of clothing!

Word of advice for those who are moving cross country: Don’t sell everything. Don’t give away everything. Take it with you and put it in storage. It’s like reformatting your humanware without any extra copies of the software you love.

A big shout out to Danny, Adam, Beth, and Hilary for helping with the move! Extra shoutout to Danny who broke mega sweat helping Jeff with the heavy items!

    When’s the housewarming party? :)

My parents have a HE washing machine. It’s a different type, but basically:

Use very very very little detergent.

Play around with the dryer. Because the HE washer uses less water, clothes aren’t as soaking wet as they are with a “normal” washer, so theoretically, you can use either lower heat or less drying time.

If you’re gonna throw your handwash items in the washing machine like I do, use even less detergent (since you’ll have way fewer items tow ash), and maybe add the extra rinse cycle at the end just to make sure all the soap is rinsed out before you hang them dry.

And, you’re more than welcome for the help. :)

    humanware? reformatting? alt-ctl-delete?

Except for the “old lady” paragraph, I think it’s official.

You’ve officially upgraded to geek 2.1.

Can’t wait to read a future blog about how you figured out how to use your new washer/dryer :)

hehehe– trust me you’ll love the washer and dryer… I just envy you cuz now you don’t have to worry about any of your “delicates” getting wrapped around that stupid thing (like i have to get mesh bags to ensure that doesn’t happen)

life always changes, i’m just glad it’s all good!

  6. [...] Finally, I loved how the Peach Pit dude was grumbling about the espresso machine, and how things aren’t so simple anymore. I can relate! [...]

NIIIICE. I’ll have to post my own pictures when my new washer/dryer comes in. It’s “chestnut brown”… otherwise known as “brownish red!”

    Whirlpool??
