Tax Stimulus Payment Schedule

Wondering exactly when you’ll get your tax-rebate stimulus check? Wonder no more!
A lot of thoughts are swimming around in my head about this so called tax rebate, and they are just thoughts. It’s supposed to help the brittle economy in America. To me, this seems like a temporary plan, not for the “big picture.” Is $600-$1200 really going to significantly help those 900,000 people who are losing their homes? But then again, is the government even responsible for those people who rushed into those different loan plans and not knowing the consequences? Or not fully understanding what they were getting into? On the other hand, many people got “duped” or sucked in for what sounded so good to be true and they need to be rescued.
The stimulus checks are only going to taxpayers, not people on disability or homeless who don’t or cannot pay taxes. This stimulus check doesn’t seem to be bringing prices back to a realistic level in accordance with income. Just yesterday, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that San Francisco is the first city to now be at the $4 average mark for gas. Only the filthy rich can afford the big city life on a comfortable level.
Again, these are just thoughts. And very confusing ones at that. So I’m going to take my check, put my head back in the sand, and STFU.

It doesn’t “seem like” a temporary plan. It IS a temporary plan. It’s almost like the day after Christmas, when the stores slash their prices by 50 or 60% just to get you to buy stuff.
The government is resisting the notion that we’re in a recession. The fact is, we ARE in a recession. The housing market sucks, people are complaining about gas prices skyrocketing to 3.50-4.00 for a gallon of gas…
And don’t even get me started on the people complaining about gas. It doesn’t bother me. I know, I’m nuts. But look at European countries. They pay for gas per liter, not per gallon, and they pay a helluva lot more than we do.
I think we personally get off easy.
From this web site:
http://europe.theoildrum.com/story/2006/5/3/17236/14255
“Just for ease of comparison, based on the exchange rate on Thursday, 27 April 2006 of $1.80 to the pound and 0.2642 US gallons to the litre:
The total price of 96.13p/litre = $6.55 per US gallon”
Now, where’s that universal health care? Or at least appropriate health coverage for the uninsured?

a thought for you all as gas hits 4 per gallon here in SF…Chevron recorded 4th consecutive year of several billion dollars in profits…

Exxon and Chevron profits alone exceed the GNP of many small countries! Makes you wonder is it really about the Oil…
I highly doubt it.

Oil company profits are not just from the sale of gas/petroleum. Many of them also create products for the use of oil refineries, safe distribution, and they also have philanthropic foundations.
I’m not excusing them, but these ARE business companies and they’re in the business of making money. This IS a capitalistic country. I don’t begrudge them one bit.
**disclaimer: I have stock in an oil company**

I’ve never been crazy about the tax-rebate stimulus check that I’ll be receiving in a few weeks. If I get started on my thoughts, my response will be 3x as long as Hilary’s. So I won’t bother.
